Rosewood Horticultural Services

Use LANDWorksCAD to create sketch plans, 3D perspectives, sections, concept plans, planting plans, hard works plans, construction details, plant schedules, contour plans, irrigation plans, lighting plans, elevations, presentations and more. The plant library alone is reason enough to purchase the software - You can use your existing blocks too if desired.

Excel Database Driven

LANDWorksCAD is totally unique in using an Excel spread sheet for the plant database, keeping it sooo simple (KISS). The library is huge with more than 2,200 separate species and the ability to easily edit and create your own plant list to suit your needs. You are not locked in to plants from any one region, zone, continent or supplier.

Because LANDWorks for AutoCAD (and Bricscad) works natively with .DWG files, you can continue to share your designs with architects, town planners, surveyors and public authorities. You can open and edit their files or even scan and accurately scale existing paper based drawings ready to start your design.

Head Start

Scanned drawings can be imported into LANDWorksCAD where they can be accurately rescaled and used as an underlay for your designs. Ideal too for aerial photographs, Google Earth images and site plan information. Survey drawings can be 'converetd' to Existing Tree drawings ready for documenting and editing. No need to redraw, automatically convert the surveyors tree circles to Existing Tree blocks with attached attribute data. Automatically number and label existing foliage and generate instant accuarte Tree Schedules.

Image Conscious

Digital or scanned photographs and other bitmap images can be incorporated into your drawings allowing for complex logo's and graphic illustrations of the plants and surrounds that relate to your design. Let nature's own imagery paint a picture for you and your clients to appreciate.

Get Automated

Click on a plant or feature and LANDWorksCAD will give you the correctly named label (call-out) to place just where you want and in the style you choose. Multiple plants are also counted and quantities added to the label if desired.

Accurate Count and Legend

One more click and let LANDWorksCAD count all the plants and place an accurate plant schedule and legend in your drawing. It knows which plants are proposed and which are existing plants, it even knows if you have forgotten to label a plant!

Good Measure

Accurate take-off and costing tools linked to your office standard layers calculate the materials for each job with confidence. Calculate areas, lengths, angles and quantities straight off the drawing, even around complex curves.

Because LANDWorksCAD for AutoCAD (and BricsCAD) uses standard CAD commands, you don't have to learn a completely new program. Just add the new tools to your existing palette of commands for instant access and use.

Use your horticultural knowledge to build new plant palettes over time and recall them as needed.

Visual Database Editing

Woohoo! No more guessing which CAD or Image file to use when you are building or editing your database. Now you can visually see and select the figure or bitmap to use for each plant from a pictorial catalogue

LANDWorksCAD Mass Planting

Mass Planting

Version 6 lets you plant out entire regions with just a few clicks. It uses actual plant figures or just a hatch pattern to represent them; LANDWorksCAD v6 knows what plants are in the region and treats them as fully editable groupings of plants. Set out your Mass Planting in rows and columns or offset patterns and even add a randomness factor to generate natural distribution or just to make it look less formal.

Ground Cover

Not only can you do mass planting of individual species, you can now apply ground cover species to areas of your design and have those areas included in your labelling, scheduling and quantity take-offs. Double click on an area and a dialog will tell you what plant, how many and what area, easy.

LANDWorksCAD Super Flexible Labelling

Super Flexible Labelling

The most flexible labelling system is now in your hands. Set the font style and label style including straight and curved leaders, single and multiple leaders, single or double leader elbows, show container size and even underline your text.

LANDWorksCAD v6 shows you what your label will look like BEFORE you place it in your drawing and more importantly labels automatically update as changes are made in your drawing.

The enhanced Auto Labelling tool now lets you choose where the text goes relative to the Plant's centre and with all label types you now get to see what your labels will look like before you place them.

In Concept Planting you can edit the headings and descriptions and the labels know which plants are the same and what has and hasn’t been labelled. Very clever and easy to use.

Fully Customise your Plant Schedules

LANDWorksCAD v6 lets you create Customised Schedules Types with your desired display columns as well as different text and heading styles and sizes. Save each of the combinations with a different name for future use. V6 gives you more logical sizing options and haloing of heading text. Fully export the schedule data to an Excel file for use in other applications such as costing.

LANDWorksCAD Shadows

Beautiful Automated Shadows

Add instant depth and artistry to your plans with the completely new instant shadow tool. Uniquely choose from a range of supplied shadow styles and shapes or create your own. We have pre-set v6 with the most commonly used shadow shape (half-moon) but you can assign any shape to each plant as desired.

Set the location of the Sun to get the correct shadow angle for your design or just rotate the shadow settings with your mouse for the best visual effect in your drawing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the original LANDWorksCAD that uses RealCAD as its core CAD 'engine' and this one, LANDWorksCAD for AutoCAD or Bricscad?

A: When you purchase the original LANDWorksCAD, you get RealCAD included, so you don't need any other CAD software - the original LANDWorksCAD is therefore a stand alone program, but when you purchase LANDWorksCAD for AutoCAD or Bricscad you will need either AutoCAD full or Bricscad to use the software.

Also, the original RealCAD based version uses the .CAD file extension, whilst AutoCAD and Bricscad use the .DWG file type. DWG is more common and therefore if you need 100% .DWG compatibility you should use the Bricscad or AutoCAD version of LANDWorksCAD.

Q: Can I use LANDWorksCAD with AutoCAD LT?

A: No. AutoCAD LT does not support the use of plug-in applications. If you are an AutoCAD LT user and want to run LANDWorksCAD we recommend switching over to Bricscad. It is more powerful and less expensive whilst being almost identical. We can provide special assistance and pricing to make this option very attractive.

Q: I don't use CAD at the moment, should I buy LANDWorksCAD stand-alone software that comes with RealCAD or LANDWorksCAD for AutoCAD and Bricscad?

A: As you mentioned in your question, LANDWorksCAD stand-alone software includes RealCAD. RealCAD is much easier to learn and use than AutoCAD and has a couple of additional features as well as being much cheaper than AutoCAD, so the LANDWorksCAD stand-alone would typically be a better option for someone new to CAD design.

If you are in an office that already uses AutoCAD or you communicate with clients and associates who insist only on DWG file format then we recommend LANDWorksCAD for Bricscad. Bricscad is reasonably priced and almost identical to AutoCAD, and it uses DWG natively as its file format.

Q: Is LANDWorksCAD for AutoCAD (and Bricscad) the 'LT' (2D) or 'Pro' (2D and 3D) version?

A: LANDWorksCAD for AutoCAD (and Bricscad) is the full 'Pro' version and includes both 2D and 3D functionality.

Q: Is LANDWorksCAD for AutoCAD available for the Mac version of AutoCAD?

A: No. Not at this time. Most users choose a PC as the Mac version of AutoCAD is very different from the PC version. Clients with Macs often run Windows on their Mac along side their Mac O/S.

System Requirements

(1) Note for Mac users: VMWare, Bootcamp or Parallels is required in order to run Windows on your Mac. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need any assistance in the installation and usage of any of the virtualization software for Mac.

We strongly recommend VMWare due to the ease of use and total integration with Mac OS. You can run both Operating Systems (Mac and PC) at the same time.
