Excel Application Could Not Be Loaded – LANDWorksCAD

Question

When attempting to load the Insert Proposed Plant Database, the following error message appears on my screen:

LANDWorksCAD Excel Application Could Not Be Loaded

“Excel Application Could Not Be Loaded”

Answer

LANDWorksCAD v6 and earlier requires Microsoft Office to be installed. Upgrading to the latest LANDWorksCAD v8 does not require to have Office installed.

There are several reasons and solutions:

Excel is not installed

Please make sure you have installed Office 2003 / 2007 / 2010 / 2016 or Microsoft Office 365 in your computer.

Using a Microsoft Office Click-to-Run Downloadable Trial Version

Right click on your Excel shortcut, click on Properties. If the file location is not:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\…

then there is a possibility that the Click-to-Run Trial version of the software is being used.

Microsoft Excel Shortcut Properties Common Files

Microsoft Office Full Trial is needed in order for LANDWorksCAD (and other software from your computer).

To get the full installer for Office 2010, logon to the Account Management Console, click the Download button next to your trial order and then instead of clicking the “Install Now” button, click on the “Advanced Options” link underneath. At the top of the Advanced Options pop-up that you’ll get, you can select between the 32-bit, the 64-bit or the Click-to-Run installer.

Note: Make sure you previously uninstall any previous version (including Click-to-Run) prior to install the Full version of Microsoft Office.

Not having administrator rights
