What is the difference between Activation Code, Serial Number, Lock Number, Key Number, License Number, Seat Number,Installation Code, ID Number etc?

Confusing isn’t it!. There is no single answer to this question as each software developer seems to have adopted slightly different terms to describe what are essentially unique identifying codes that allows the software to be either functionally active or not.
