Annotative Drawing in AutoCAD using StrucPLUS

Question

How StrucPLUS deals with Annotative Drawing in AutoCAD. For instance, drawing a section callout or similar?

Answer

Simply by setting up the current text Style and Dim Styles to be annotative and as long as the user repeatedly adjust the Annotation Scale (bottom right of screen) to match the required plot scale then Struc Plus will support this feature.

The only thing you may need to change is the title block, drawing sheet setup and reset scale features to include a change to this setting.

Annotative Scaling is part of AutoCAD, much like text styles and dimstyles, whatever is setup in the DWT template or the users drawing, then Struc Plus will use, ie:

To create a new annotative text style

Click Format menu Text Style.At the command prompt, enter style.

In the Text Style dialog box, click New.

In the New Text Style dialog box, enter a new style name.

Click OK.

In the Text Style dialog box, under Size, select Annotative.

In the Paper Text Height box, enter the height of the text as it will display on paper.

Click Apply.

(Optional) Click Set Current to set this style as the current text style.

Click Close.

To change an existing nonannotative text style to annotative

Click Format menu Text Style.At the command prompt, enter style.

In the Text Style dialog box, Styles list, select a style.

NoteA icon next to a text style name indicates that the style is already annotative.

Under Size, select Annotative.

In the Paper Text Height box, enter the height of the text as it will display on paper.

Click Apply.

(Optional) Click Set Current to set this style as the current text style.

Click Close.

To create a new annotative dimension style

Click Format menu Dimension Style. At the command prompt, enter dimstyle.

In the Dimension Style Manager dialog box, click New.

In the Create New Dimension Style dialog box, enter a new style name.

Select Annotative.

Click Continue.

In the New Dimension Style dialog box, select the appropriate tab and make changes to define the dimension style.

Click OK.

(Optional) Click Set Current to set this style as the current dimension style.

Click Close.

To change an existing dimension style to annotative

Click Format menu Dimension Style. At the command prompt, enter dimstyle.

In the Dimension Style Manager dialog box, Styles list, select a style.

Click Modify.

In the Modify Dimension Style dialog box, Fit tab, under Scale for Dimension Features, select Annotative.

Click OK.

(Optional) Click Set Current to set this style as the current dimension style.

Click Close.

The user does need to check the Annotative Scale is set correctly before running a StrucPLUS macro.
