Can’t see File Extension in Windows Explorer

I am not able to see file extensions in Windows.

Answer

To view the file extensions in Windows, go to Organize, then select Folder and search options as shown below.

Under the View tab, uncheck Hide extensions for known file types, then click OK.

Now the file extensions will show in the Windows Explorer for any file type.

In CAD, it is generally recommended to being able to see all file extensions. For instance, it is useful when renaming backup files to DWG file extension.
