Insert Component in RealCAD / LANDWorksCAD / ArborCAD

Question

How do I insert a block / symbol / component / figure in RealCAD / LANDWorksCAD / ArborCAD?

Answer

Use the Image and Group Commands toolbar

A Figure is simply a *.CAD file that can be inserted into another *.CAD file as a single entity.

The insertion point of a Figure is the model 0,0,0 point for that Figure.

Figures can be set to adopt the current default settings for Color, Layer, Style and Weight or they can adopt the original settings they were drawn with.

Figures can be scaled, rotated and duplicated very easily and can also be exploded in to their individual entities or into a Group entity, allowing to for easy selection and also allowing editing of the entities within the Group.

Figures are typically used as symbols in a drawing or components in a model. In other CAD software Figures may be referred to as X-Ref Blocks or Cells.

NOTE: If the original Figure file is modified, the next time a file that contains the Figure is opened; it will reflect those changes to the Figure in the drawing.

Warning: Because Figures are referenced into the drawing, moving or renaming them, or renaming the Folder from which they were inserted will cause any drawing that contains them to be unable to show them.

You can tell if a drawing has missing Figures by using the missing button in the

Options, Figure dialog.

Figures can be attached to the model file. The file will however increase in size.
